About this piece

Full description

  • Two doors
  • White or silver
  • 1:12 dollhouse scale

A two-door refrigerator for a dollhouse kitchen, sized to the 1:12 dollhouse scale used across the range. A kitchen scene is mostly a wall of units, and a tall piece at the end of the run is what closes it and makes the room look like somewhere food is kept and prepared. At that scale it holds its own next to a cabinet run or in a kitchen built on its own, and the height is what stops a line of low cabinets from looking unfinished.

You pay $29.99, and the compare-at price is $37.99. Two finishes are listed: white with silver trim, and silver. Those are the option labels, so the choice here is about finish rather than size. Two photographs come with this piece, both labelled as option photos, one for each finish. The page also shows a 2 for $50.99 badge, which is the figure to work from if you are fitting out more than one kitchen or want a spare for a second scene.

This piece has two doors, and the rest of the piece is the body that stands between them and the wall. It belongs at the end of a cabinet run: the kitchen cabinet set covers the cabinets themselves, and the stove and smaller kitchen pieces elsewhere in Mini Furniture fill in the rest of the wall.

Because it stands at the end of a run, it is usually placed after the cabinets rather than before them, and it reads best with its front facing the same way as the rest of the kitchen. In a room box too small for a full run it can hold the kitchen on its own, with a table and chairs beside it doing the work of the rest of the room. In a scene that is photographed often it tends to be the piece that stays put while the smaller props around it change. It is a display miniature rather than a working appliance, so nothing about it needs switching on.

Lift it by the body of the piece rather than by the front of the doors or a thin panel, and set it down on a flat surface. Dust it with a soft dry brush instead of a damp cloth, and take care around the trim, which is the part most likely to catch on a cloth.
