About this piece

Full description

  • Seven colour options
  • Rolling cart look
  • Storage and utility scenes

Utility rooms, kitchens, studios and workshops all end up with the same problem in miniature: nowhere to put the small things. This rolling storage trolley solves it with a metal-look frame, a cart-style body and shelves that can be loaded with tiny pots, boxes, tools or folded cloth. It is a 1:12 scale piece, the scale of the furniture and props in this range, so it stands at a sensible height beside a counter, a desk or a cabinet from the same group, and the shelves read as working storage rather than as an ornament.

Because it is a free-standing cart rather than a built-in unit, you can move it around a room as you rearrange the scene, and it sits beside a counter, at the end of a desk or in a corner where a full cupboard would crowd the space. Seven colourways are listed and each one is $24.99: pink, white, beige, yellow, black, army green and lake blue. White and beige keep a scene calm and let the props on the shelves do the talking, black reads as a workshop or studio cart, and pink, yellow, army green and lake blue give colour to a room that is otherwise very neutral.

Seven photographs, one for each colourway, are labelled so that comparing the shade you want against the others is straightforward. Two trolleys come to $41.99 instead of $49.98, which suits a workshop with more than one cart or a kitchen that wants storage on both sides of the room. A single trolley is $24.99, and the compare-at price is $1.

Elsewhere on the site, the other Display & Storage pieces give you a case or cabinet for showing things rather than storing them, Mini Furniture fills the room the trolley stands in, and Stationery Props and Mini Plants cover the small items that go on the shelves. Used together, a trolley and a case cover both halves of a room's storage.

Load the shelves with things that are light, and move the trolley by pushing the frame rather than by pulling on a shelf edge. Dust the frame and shelves with a soft dry brush, and keep small props off the floor under the wheels so nothing is crushed when you shift the scene.
