Miniature Study Desk and Chair

The desk and chair set is $29.99. If you want a study with a desk you can work at and somewhere to sit, the set is the fuller option; if you already own one half, buying the other half on its own is cheaper than replacing both. All three photographs are labelled with the option they show, so the pictures line up with the choices above.

Both pieces come as unpainted blanks, which is the point of them for many builders. The bare surface takes paint, stain or a wash, so you can match the desk to a floor, a wall or another piece of Mini Furniture in the same room instead of settling for one fixed colour. Paint a dark wood tone for an old-fashioned study, keep it pale for a child's room, or leave it bare and let the wood show in a workshop scene.

The furniture is 1:12 dollhouse scale, the same scale used throughout this miniature range, so the desk and the chair sit at the proportions the rest of the range is built to. The pair works in a study, a home office, a homework corner or a craft room. Once the desk is in place, the small props sold here do the rest: a watercolour paint box or other Stationery Props on the desktop, a Mini Plant on the sill, a Scene Parts window behind, and Mini Furniture seating for the rest of the house.

Because the desk and the chair are also sold separately, a study can be started with whichever half you need first and finished later. Because the pieces are unfinished, handle them with clean, dry hands and avoid dragging the desk across a surface while you test where it sits. Lift the chair by its seat rather than by a leg, and dust both pieces with a soft dry brush. Store them somewhere dry while you decide on a finish, and thin the first coat of paint rather than flooding the joints.
