Miniature Three-Seat Sofa with Cushions

Three cushions come with this miniature sofa, and the sofa itself is usually the piece people start a living room with. It seats three at 1:12 dollhouse scale, the same scale as the miniature furniture and props here, so it sits correctly in a room box beside the other pieces in the range. At that scale the seat height reads properly, and a doll sitting down looks as though it is really sitting rather than balanced on the front edge of a cushion. A sofa of this length does a useful job in a scene: it tells you where the low table, the rug and the lamp should sit, and it gives a small room an obvious focal point without crowding it.

The three cushions can be laid flat, propped into the corners or stacked, which changes the look of the room without any extra purchases. Five colourways are listed, and all five are priced at $29.99: white, yellow, grey, lake blue and apple green.

The five photographs are labelled by colour, so you can compare white against lake blue, or the softer yellow against apple green, before deciding. Grey and white are the quiet choices that let a patterned rug or a bright cushion carry the room, while lake blue and apple green give a plain white dollhouse interior some colour on their own. If you are furnishing more than one room, two sofas come to $50.99 rather than $59.98, which suits a house with a living room and a second sitting area, or a living room plus a bedroom that needs somewhere to sit.

One sofa costs $29.99, and the compare-at price is $37.99. Around this piece, Mini Furniture covers the desks, tables and other seating you would put in the same house, Display & Storage gives you a case or trolley for the corner of the room, and Mini Plants adds the greenery that stops a living room looking like a showroom. Scene Parts is where the doors and windows live if your living room needs walls.

Miniature upholstery holds its shape best when it is not squeezed. Place the sofa where it will not be pressed against a wall too tightly, keep the cushions with the piece so they do not go missing in a scene, and dust the seats and arms with a soft dry brush rather than a wet cloth.
